An atmospheric seascape in soft pink, brown, blue and green tones. Touches of bodycolour highlight the low-flying gulls and waves crashing against rocks. On paper laid down on board.
Signed lower right.
Generally in fine condition, there is the odd small spot of foxing, and a tiny worm hole in the board at the lower left corner.

William Baker (1865-1938) was landscape painter in oil and watercolour from South Shields. A professional artist, he gave lessons in his studio, teaching over 100 pupils, including his son, George Baker (1901-1972). He most frequently painted the landscape of the north east of England around South Shields.
