An original 19th-century pen & ink drawing Horse Marines.

An amusing small pen and ink drawing showing marines incongruously on horseback.

The term 'horse marines' became associated with an episode in Texas in 1836, following the Battle of San Jacinto, where three Mexican vessels were captured by an American troop of volunteer rangers on horses.

Please note the small size of this artwork.
