Robert Montague Napier Hemy-Scott Cutty Sark Clipper Ship

An original early 20th-century watercolour painting, Robert Montague Napier Hemy-Scott, Cutty Sark Clipper Ship.

A fine marine watercolour with an intriguing attribution.

The identity of the artist is unconfirmed. Any connection with the noted British marine artist Charles Napier Hemy (1841–1917) is unknown. Charles was one of thirteen siblings and part of a large artistic family of artists and musicians. Charles' daughter Barbara Agnes Napier-Hemy (1890–1957) married the architect Adrian Gilbert Scott (1882–1963), but their children took the surname Gilbert-Scott not Hemy-Scott.

In watercolour with white bodycolour highlights.
