Vera Furneaux-Harris RMS b.1904

This enchanting group of pencil drawings by miniaturist and illustrator Vera Furneaux-Harris RMS showcase the artist's talent for depicting young children. Through close observation, her drawings capture, with great tenderness, the sweet expressions and childhood physiques of young children absorbed in everyday activities. There is great charm in the now vintage 1930s clothing and bobbed hairstyles, but perhaps an even greater appeal lies in the evident timelessness of childhood behaviours that these drawings represent.

Vera Furneaux-Harris RMS (b.1904) was a miniaturist, portrait painter and illustrator. She was born in Ross in Hertfordshire and studied at Maidstone School of Art, at the Slade and in Paris. She exhibited at the Royal Academy and also at the Royal Society of Miniature Painters (RMS), of which she was a member.
