An original late 19th-century wood engraving, M.F., Begging Dog 'Pro Rege Mendico'.
The artist is likely to be Margaret Hanbury Frere (1866–1956), daughter of Rev Edward Hanbury Frere, who studied at Wimbledon School of Art. She was a member and exhibitor at the Woodpecker Sketch Club (later known Norwich Art Circle), Bond Street Gallery, Ipswich Fine Art Club and Norwich Art Circle.
