An original 1912 watercolour painting, C.F. Newall, Tormentil & Bog Asphodel.

This beautiful botanical painting, meticulously hand-drawn in watercolour, was produced for illustration in the 1912 nature book 'The Circling Year' by popular naturalist William Percival Westell (1874–1943). This illustration appears in volume II, 'Rambles in Summer'.

The artist, C.F. Newall, illustrated many nature books of the Edwardian period, such as The Young Botanist, 1908 by Westall, and Plant Life, 1915 by Charles A. Hall.

This is one of a small collection of botanical paintings by Newall that we have for sale.
