Challis Family Collection

This picture forms part of a collection of works that we have for sale associated with Henry William Challis (1801–1862) and his wife Winyfrede Margaret née Lewis (1810–1883). A number of the pictures in the collection are by these hands. The pictures are small-scale drawings on a variety of architectural, landscape, botanical and literary subjects, which exemplify the kinds of works that were created as mementoes and trinkets for a Victorian album.
