An original 1878 graphite drawing, German Boy Holding a Flute.
An expertly rendered graphite drawing of a German boy in native costume, sitting holding a flute, surrounded by additional sketches of a horse and a jumping figure. Verso there is an additional set of finely modelled graphite drawings of various types of seventeenth century pistols, as well as a historical figure holding a sword.
Unsigned. Dated verso. Inscribed illegibly in the upper corner: 'Ichwahnsaler [illegible]'? Additional German inscriptions on the pistols verso.
Light overall age toning as shown. Peripheral mount burn. Small crease to the upper and lower right corners. Larger crease to the upper left corner. Glue and paper remnants along the left side edge, from historical mounting.
