Indian Elephant Kneeling with Rider - Original early 19th-century etching print

An original early 19th-century etching print, Indian Elephant Kneeling with Rider.

A charming small image of an Indian elephant and rider. The medium appears to be handprinted etched lines. On the verso there is an additional image of a turbaned man, in etched lines with watercolour wash.

This picture matches other known works by the hand of Major A.C. Hutchinson dating from around 1837. Hutchinson joined the Bengal Artillery as a cadet in 1830, rising to Major in 1856.

There are three substantial repaired tears across the paper. The picture may have other minor imperfections, such as slight marks, toning, foxing, creasing or pinholes, commensurate with age. Please see photos for detail.
8.1cm x 13.1cm.
