F.E. Genlloud, Flower Beds with Pampas Grass - 1900s watercolour painting

An original 1900s watercolour painting, F.E. Genlloud Flower Beds with Pampas Grass.

A vibrant Cambridge view at the turn of the century. F.E. Genlloud is presumed to be Florence Emmeline Genlloud (1865-1943), recorded as living in Cambridge in the 1890s through to her death in 1943.

Minor age toning at the outer edges of the sheet.
24.9cm x 35.6cm.

This picture forms part of a collection of works we have for sale by F.E. Genlloud, which comprises bird studies, views of Cambridge parkland, East Anglian seascapes around Lowestoft, and coastal views at Newquay in Cornwall. The pictures date from the beginning of the 20th century, a time of transition away from the tastes of Victorian England to the freer artistic expression of modernity.

One picture in the collection is signed R.C. Genlloud (likely Rita Catherine b.1896), who was author-illustrator of the book ‘By-ways in Old Cambridge Original Sketches of Little Known Parts’, 1933.
