This enchanting drawing is from a small collection of portraits of female subjects we have for sale dating from the 1870s. Some in the collection are after works by the popular Victorian engraver George Francis ‘Frank’ Miles, who is known for his portraits of society beauties. Frank Miles was also an architect and keen plantsman – he was artist in chief to Life magazine and botanical illustrations to the weekly journal "The Garden". He is also famed for being a close friend of Oscar Wilde.
