An attractive loose watercolour of cottages at Old Aberdeen.

Signed lower left.
Inscribed verso: Cottage, Old Aberdeen "Strarties".
In good condition for its age. The picture may have minor imperfections, such as slight marks, toning, foxing, creasing or pinholes, commensurate with age. Please see photos for detail. There are paper remnants on the back of the sheet, from historically being laid down.

Sybil Mullen Glover (1907-1995) was born at Hulme, Manchester. She studied at St Martin's School of Art in London under Roland Vivian Pitchforth and with private tutors. In 1927 she married Joseph Cuthbert Mullen (1883-1940), with whom she moved to Cornwall. Joseph Mullen died in 1940, after which time, Sybil moved to Suffolk. She was a member of Ipswich Art Club from 1963, and she exhibited at the Royal Academy 1963-1969, New English Art Club, Society of Women Artists (1959-1980) and at the Paris Salon where she won gold and silver medal. In 1964 she was elected a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours and the Society of Marine Artists and was also a member of the Society of Women Artists. She later had a studio at Mevagissey, Cornwall.
