Paul Hogarth

This exceptional collection dating from the 1950s comprises illustrations by Paul Hogarth (1917-2001), one of the most successful and prolific commercial artists of his day, as well as works by other esteemed draughtsmen, including Andrew Dodds (1927-2004) and Beryl Irving (1896-1965).

Many of the drawings were reproduced in East Anglian Magazine - an eclectic publication of stories, illustrations and old photographs, relating to the counties of Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire. The drawings all share a quirky, English appeal – often slightly humorous or oddball, depicting local personalities and customs, or illustrating amusing anecdotes or intriguing scenes from local history.
