An original late 19th-century photograph – Old Peebles Hydro Hotel, Scottish Borders.

An interesting 19th-century albumen print showing the original Peebles Hydro Hotel, which burned down in 1905. Within two years the hotel was rebuilt in a different style.

Provenance: from an album belonging to Florence Alliston (1855–1886), daughter of Sir Frederick Prat Alliston (1832–1912), Alderman of the City of London.
