Arthur Suker Low Tide, Padstow, Cornwall
An original late 19th-century watercolour painting, Arthur Suker, Low Tide, Padstow, Cornwall.
An impressive large watercolour by Arthur Suker (1857–1940) showing rocks at low tide at Padstow. The scale of the rocks—set against the diminutive white gulls—and the turquoise waters capture the rugged majesty of the north Cornwall coast. Blue and grey milky gouache brings an intensity to the colour and tangible sense of texture—the sheer physicality of the rocks being the painting's subject.
This is one of a pair of Cornish watercolours that we have for sale by Arthur Suker (see stock number JX-610).
