An original 17th-century graphite drawing, Attributed Adriaen van de Velde Cow Study.

Follower of Adriaen van de Velde (not signed). Historic attribution inscribed verso. The Dutch painter and draughtsman Adriaen van de Velde (1636–1672) was one of the finest landscape artists of the Dutch Golden Age. He specialised in landscapes featuring figures and animals. Born in Amsterdam, Adriaen was probably trained by his father, Willem van de Velde the Elder (1611–1693), a marine painter. Despite his premature death, he produced a great number of masterpieces and numerous preparatory studies. On handmade laid. On the verso there are remnants of paper from having historically been laid down.
