A wonderful, skilfully drawn battle scene, possibly a sketch for an oil painting.
Abraham Cooper RA (1787–1868) was a British animal and battle painter. In particular, he was a master of equine portraiture and anatomy, and he particularly favoured Cavalier and Roundhead pictures.
In watercolour with pen and brown ink and white bodycolour highlights. On grey paper. There is a partial graphite sketch on the verso.
