An original 1820 watercolour painting, Elizabeth Pickersgill, Flower Posy with Daffodil.
An exquisitely drawn and vividly coloured painting. Elizabeth Pickersgill was daughter of the Moscow merchant of distinction John Pickersgill (1765–1841), who had emigrated to Russia around 1791 and established many successful business interests there.
This picture is part of an interesting collection that tells a story of early 19th-century Hull, its flourishing industry and the nascent Primitive Methodist community in the city.
With gum arabic to intensify the colour. On Dobbs paper with embossed decorative border.
