Yorkshire artist E.F. Hearfield was connected with York Art Society in the 1970s to 1990s. Many of his subjects take inspiration from the picturesque views around the medieval city of York. His portraits have something of the flavour of the intimate portrait sketches of David Hockney and the Yorkshire world of playwright Alan Bennett.
