Signed: The painting is sealed in an ornate gilt frame with gilt slip as shown. The back of the frame is inscribed: “Copied at Florence 1840, After the Madonna del Gran duca” and bears a signature “Goodrich”. The preceding initials are indistinct.

Condition: The frame has not been opened at the back in order to maintain the original taped seal and inscribed backing card. Its pair, however, has been inspected and is confirmed to be on ivory. The picture has slipped down slightly at the top right of the frame, which could be corrected by opening the frame. The frame has minor small chips to the gesso at the upper and lower edges as shown.
