An original early 20th-century pen & ink drawing, James Ardern Grant, Vézelay Abbey, Yonne, France.
A spirited ink and wash drawing by the English printmaker and portraitist James Ardern Grant (1887–1973) depicting the Basilica of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine at Vézelay. Rapidly executed on a sketchbook page, the drawing is likely a study for an etching; it resembles in style a series of prints of London architectural subjects by the artist.
