An original early 19th-century watercolour painting Landscape with Footbridge after Claude Lorrain.
A delicate drawing in pen and brown ink and brown and blue wash of an idyllic landscape, featuring a wooden footbridge across a river, classical ruins and distant hills. Foreground figures and cattle complete the elegant composition.
The paper is inscribed on the verso 'From Claude'. The palette and loose technique bear similarity to copies that were produced by artists of the Monro School.
In pen and brown ink and brown and blue wash with graphite underdrawing on wove paper. With scratching out to the water.
