L.B.M. Flower Garden, Gulmarg, Kashmir, India
An original c.1925 watercolour painting, L.B.M., Flower Garden, Gulmarg, Kashmir, India.
This is one of a collection of watercolours that we have for sale depicting the Gulmarg area of Kashmir in the Himalayas around 1925. The paintings were evidently executed on-the-spot, some with date inscriptions and specific locations such as 'View from Circular Road'. They are similar to the watercolours published in the 1909 book 'Kashmir' written by the British explorer Sir Francis Younghusband and illustrated by the artist Major Edward Mary Joseph Molyneux CIE DSO, who was known for his Kashmiri scenes.
