A skilful graphite drawing on Galpin 55 Rathbone Place London drawing paper. James Galpin was listed as artist's colourman at this address in the mid-19th century.

This drawing is one a set of five by the same hand that we have for sale. One of the drawings is inscribed on the verso with what appears to say 'Miss Leywater', and another is dated 1847. These are fine drawings showing an appreciation of the rustic and picturesque.
