Thomas James Lloyd RWS Criccieth Castle, North Wales
An original 1872 watercolour painting, Thomas James Lloyd RWS, Criccieth Castle, North Wales.
A charming watercolour of a view looking towards Criccieth Castle, perched dramatically on a rocky peninsula overlooking Tremadog Bay in North Wales. Thomas James Lloyd RWS (1849–1910) was principally a landscape artist, but also painted genre scenes, and here his interest in narrative can be seen in the inclusion of a mother walking carrying her baby on the beach, the small boat at sea and house glimpsed to the left.
In watercolour with white bodycolour highlights.
The painting is accompanied by a historic framing label.
