An original early 19th-century watercolour painting Figures in Picturesque Landscape.
This accomplished, unsigned watercolour sketch in grisaille wash shows a typically picturesque view with Claudian composition elements of architectural feature, peasant figures, framing trees and distant mountains. On wove paper with 1813 watermark. Laid down at the corners onto card. There are rough graphite sketches on the verso of the paper by the same hand, showing trees and a castle ruin.
