An original 1920s pen & ink drawing, Possibly George Percy Jacomb-Hood RBA, Arabian Horseman.
An accomplished ink illustration. Further portrait sketches on the verso indicate a date of around the 1920s.
This drawing is possibly by the artist George Percy Jacomb-Hood (1857–1929), who regularly produced illustrations for The Graphic. Another drawing in the collection from which this drawing derives also has the attribution of Jacmob-Hood. (see JZ-180).
Jacomb-Hood was educated at Tonbridge School and the Slade School of Fine Art as well as studying while touring abroad in Paris and Madrid. He was a member of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers, the Savile Club, was Honorary Treasurer of the Chelsea Arts Club, member of the New English Art Club and the Royal Society of Portrait Painters. He was a friend of Whistler and a horse-riding companion of Sargent (his neighbour in Tite Street), and he also developed a fine reputation as a portrait painter.
