This stylish group of works dating from the late Edwardian / Pre-World War One period were collected by a Walter E. Good (1911–1918). Some of the drawings were executed onboard SS Golconda, a British India Line service from London to Calcutta, whilst others were sketched at Madras and in Burma. The pictures embody the humour and aesthetic of a time of modernisation and social change in Britain, which was in conflict and tension with lingering traditions and class structures from the 19th century.
