An original early 19th-century watercolour painting – M.G., Silhouette Portrait of C.M. Vereker.
A delightful papercut silhouette by an artist with the initials 'M.G.'.
This silhouette is a member of the Irish aristocratic Vereker family, C.M. Vereker, Viscounts Gort.
The identity of the artist is unknown; there is record of an album of silhouettes 1796–1806 owned by Earl Poulett, with the initials 'M.G.' on the album.
This silhouette forms part of a fascinating collection of works that we have for sale connected with the aristocratic O'Grady and Vereker families of 19th-century Ireland.
On paper laid down on card. Please note the small size of this artwork.
