Jean Mary Ogilvie Art Deco Horse Pattern Design

An original 1930s gouache painting, Jean Mary Ogilvie, Art Deco Horse Pattern Design.

A stunning original Art Deco style design dating from the late 1930s by Jean Mary Ogilvie (1920–1997). Horses were a popular motif in Art Deco, favoured for their sleek lines and associations of speed and flux. Ogilvie's design wonderfully captures this sense of movement, whilst abstracting and flattening the forms into a boldly modern pattern. Possibly a design for fabric.

In gouache with pen and ink.
