An exquisite Italian veduta, hand-painted in brilliant gouache over a barely visible engraved base. The view shows the largest and most splendid of Rome's temples, the Temple of Venus and Roma, designed by Hadrian himself.
This picture was produced in the early 19th century by an anonymous Italian artist for the Grand Tour souvenir market.
On cream wove paper with hand-painted grey border.
