An original early 19th-century graphite drawing – After Cornelis Visscher, A Woman Seated.
A fine drawing after a work by the Dutch Golden Age engraver Cornelis Visscher (1628/29–1658). Visscher was one of Haarlem's most celebrated and prolific portrait draftsmen and printmakers.
A drawing of this subject, executed in black chalk on vellum, is in the Musée des Beaux-Arts de la Ville de Paris, Petit Palais. Another version sold at Christies in 2001. The present drawing is by an unknown hand.
In graphite with grey wash. On watermarked J Whatman wove paper.
