Interesting pictures depicting 1940s Eritrea by Italian artist Giovanni Romagnoli (1893–1976). After the Second World War, Romagnoli visited former Italian colonies in East Africa, known as Africa Orientale Italiana—an area that included parts of present day Somalia, Eritrea and Ethiopia. His resulting paintings are both documentary and picturesque.
