An original early 19th-century watercolour painting, Lorenzo Bandoni, Tuscan Hills, Italy.
A beautifully soft and atmospheric evocation of the Tuscan hills. The artist, L. Bandoni, appears to be Lorenzo Bandoni, whose known works include views at Lucca, some of which were engraved in the 1843 publication 'Guida di Lucca e dei luoghi più importanti del ducato' (Guide to Lucca and the most important places in the duchy).
Provenance: from a Victorian travel album belonging to Florinda Bookey (1832–1916) of Duninga House, Duninga, Kilkenny, Ireland who in 1867 married William Greenwood (d.1887), Ceylon coffee planter.
In watercolour with gum arabic to intensify the colour. The upper corners of the paper are clipped as shown. On paper laid down on backing paper.
