An original 1954 graphite drawing, John Frye Bourne, Portrait of a Civil Defence Man.
A fine portrait study by John Frye Bourne (1912–1991).
Bourne was the youngest student to be accepted at the Royal Academy Schools since J.M.W. Turner. This portrait is one of a collection of drawings by Bourne that we have for sale, mostly dating from around the 1930s. The sketches are a fine example of British Realist Art between the Wars.
