An original mid-19th-century pen & ink drawing, M.M.A.B., Penshurst Place, Kent.

A charming vignette drawing in brown ink depicting Penshurst Place in Kent, the ancestral home of the Sidney family and birthplace of Elizabethan poet Sir Philip Sidney. The scene is taken from William Howitt's book 'Visits to Remarkable Places' published c.1840. The original illustrations were designed and executed by the draughtsman and wood engraver Samuel Williams (1788–1853).This is one of a set of five similar drawings that we have for sale (please see stock codes JM-132 to JM-137). One of the drawings is initialled 'M.M.A.B.'.
