An original 1831 watercolour painting, E. Woodville Ricketts, Havre Lighthouses from the Pierhead, France.
A charming drawing by Edward Woodville Ricketts (1808–1895). This is one of a collection of pictures that we have for sale by the artist. Ricketts was a keen yachtsman and the pictures chart his travels as a young man, especially the coastal topography that he encountered.
Based on other pictures around this date the location of this drawing is in northern France (Havre being 'harbour' in French).
In watercolour with graphite underdrawing. There is a partial graphite sketch on the verso.
Please note that this picture comprises two adjoined sheets with a fold line.
