A stylish original Art Nouveau bookplate, or ex libris, dating from 1910 and associated with the Viennese Secession movement.
The bookplate was designed by the Austrian artist and printmaker Alfred Cossmann (1870–1951) for Caroline Freifrau von Dalberg. The design depicts the plaster cast life mask of the composer Beethoven, made by Franz Klein in 1812.
