An original c.1920s lithograph print, Marius Forestier, Decorative Flowers in Blue Vase.

A fabulous decorative print, incorporating elements of Art Nouveau and Art Deco design, in the flattened organic forms, Orientalist motifs and decorative colour palette. Although colour-printed, the print technique very much gives the impression of a painting.

Born in Penge, Surrey, Marius Charles Forestier (1886–1939) was the son of the noted Anglo-French artist and illustrator Amédée Forestier (1854–1930). Marius also worked as an illustrator, producing designs for the Medici Society and also for publications such as The Graphic newspaper, some of which was in the fashionable Art Deco style of the day.
