A delightful anthropomorphic drawing from the Irish aristocratic O'Grady / Vereker family.
The artist is the Hon Julia O'Grady (c.1820–1864), daughter of Standish O'Grady, 1st Viscount Guillamore, who in 1845 married Maj William Hawkins Ball.
This drawing is one of a fascinating collection of works that we have for sale connected with the aristocratic O'Grady and Vereker families of 19th-century Ireland.
In pen and ink with watercolour wash. On watermarked 1833 wove paper.
