An original 1828 graphite drawing – T. Mintern, Barley Wood, Somerset, Home of Social Reformer Hannah More.
A fine miniature graphite drawing.
Built in 1801, Barley Wood was the home of the celebrated social reformer, author, and philanthropist Hannah More (1745–1833). It was a prominent gathering place for 19th-century abolitionists, writers and reformers, such as William Wilberforce, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Elizabeth Fry and the Austen sisters.
