A view from our window at Llandudno' by Elizabeth Wedderburn, from our new collection by the Wedderburn sisters, dating from the 1870s.

Elizabeth (1827–1876) and Margaret (1828–1874) Wedderburn were born in India, to Sir John Wedderburn, 2nd Bt. The Wedderburns were descended from the first Baronet of Blackness, a distinguished Scottish family, who were involved in supporting the Stuart cause. Ancestors included the highly regarded 18th-century Scottish portrait painter Catherine Read, daughter of Elizabeth Wedderburn and Alexander Read. Both sisters sadly died prematurely, unmarried and in their forties.
