In 1878 Way Senior helped Whistler make his first experiments in lithography. From 1884 onwards Whistler produced a large number of lithographs which were printed by Way and later catalogued by his son. Thomas Way Senior was one of Whistler's chief creditors at his bankruptcy in 1879 and acquired many of the artist's paintings and drawings at this time.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThomas Robert Way is noted for his topographical lithographs of London. In 1912 he wrote a memoir as Whistler's friend and confidant, 'Memories of James McNeill Whistler'.
