This remarkably delicate botanical collection is a dazzling catalogue of Switzerland’s stunning Alpine flora. Drawn from life in the mountains near Gstaad and Champéry from June to July, 1930, they document the beautiful array of blooms that flourish on Switzerland’s usually inhospitable slopes in the short summer months. The delicate ecosystem of the Alps means that many of its flower species are endangered – this collection wonderfully capturing a fragile snapshot in time. The individual subtlety of these small watercolours means that they would work especially well displayed as a collective group.
