An original early 20th-century watercolour painting, Aquilegia & Pink Flower Tile Design.

This sweet composition comprises four small botanical illustrations on one square sheet. This stylised design appears to be the original artwork for a decorative ceramic tile. In watercolour with pen and ink. On paper laid down on backing paper.

Some marks and age toning to the paper as shown.

This painting forms part of a collection of original illustration artwork we have for sale, dating from the 1920s/30s. The collection includes many original vignette drawings of characters from the novels of Charles Dickens after Kyd (Joseph Clayton Clarke), produced for publication on cigarette cards, as well as various landscape views, animal, flower and historical subjects, some of which were for reproduction on decorative tiles.
