An original 1902 watercolour painting, Arthur Harris St Andrews from Eden Mouth.
A delicate painting in muted colours, evocative of Scotland's east coast, known for its exposed and bracing conditions. The sihouetted buildings of St Andrews, including its ruined cathedral, are viewed across St Andrews Bay at the mouth of the Eden river. On paper laid down on card.
Signed and dated lower left. Inscribed verso: "St Andrews from Eden mouth, Morning".

This watercolour is from a collection of seascapes we have by Arthur Harris depicting views of the east coast of Scotland, around Angus, Fife and East Lothian.
Arthur Harris (fl.1891-1902) was a Scottish artist based at Elmbank House, Newport, Fife. He was son of Arthur Harris Senior, a Dundee auctioneer with the company Harris, Curr & Fyfe. Arthur Harris Junior was a landscape and seascape painter who executed mainly local scenes in oil and watercolour. He exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy, Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour, Aberdeen Artists Society and Royal Academy.
