Ball which Mortally Wounded Horatio Nelson - Original 1807 etching print

An original 1807 etching print, Ball which Mortally Wounded Horatio Nelson.

This interesting print is taken from William Beatty's "Authentic Narrative of the Death of Lord Nelson" printed in London by T. Davison, White Friars, for T. Cadell and W. Davies, in the Strand, 1807. The glorified treatment of the bullet in this image, which mortally wounded Nelson at the Battle of Trafalgar, reflects Nelson's status as the greatest naval hero in British history.

Laid down on backing paper.

Unsigned.
The print has been trimmed as shown. There is a short tear to the upper edge and some age toning.
19.7cm x 14.2cm.
Unframed.
