An original early 20th-century watercolour painting, Coastal Sea View Miniature.
A sweet watercolour of a charming rural scene, in miniature. On buff-coloured paper.
Minor age toning and a tiny loss to the paint surface at the lower right. There are small paper remnants to the corners on the verso from having historically been laid down.
10.8cm x 7.4cm.
Miniature art has a unique appeal. Miniatures became especially popular in Europe in the 16th century, and became increasingly popular in the 17th and 18th centuries. Condensed into a small composition, the key components of a view can be used to communicate the effect of an entire landscape.
