This work is from a collection by Elsie Powell, some of which are signed or initialled. Elsie K. Simpson Powell (1895-1975) was a fine animal artist who lived in Dockenfield, Surrey. Her sensitive animal studies and anthropomorphic animal cartoons skilfully capture the character of their subjects.
