James Bourne Head of Ullswater from Blowick in the Lake District

An original c.1800 watercolour painting, James Bourne, Head of Ullswater from Blowick in the Lake District.

This elegant, beautifully composed Lake District view shows the Head of Ullswater from Blowick, with Patterdale Church in the middle-distance. 'Blowick', thought to have been a farm, on Place Fell, just north of Patterdale Common at the foot of Ullswater Lake, is mentioned by Wordsworth in his 1818 'Guide to the Lakes'. The landscape artist John Glover (1767–1849) lived at the house for a period.

On cream wove paper.
